Do monastics do what the rest of us do in the lunar New Year?

The Dharma method effectuates no departure from the worldly method.

All Buddhist practitioners, whether householders or monastics, live by

staying within the bounds of convention one way or another. Visiting

in conveyance of lunar New Year wishes, a tradition of courtesy, is all

about connection. Buddhist monastics, too, practice likewise. The junior

monastics rise early in the morning, make themselves present before

elders and senior bhiksus, prostrate, and, in reverence and propriety,

enquire after the latter' s wellbeing.
