Who are the Three Honored Ones of the West in worship at the Main Shrine?

In a typical Chinese temple, the image of Sakyamuni Buddhha the

Original Teacher is often placed in worship at the Main Shrine (literally,

great hero precious hall) in the center, with that of Amitabha Buddha on

the right and that of Bhaisajyaguruvaiduryaprabhasa (hereafter the

Healing Buddha) on the left.

The Three Holy Ones of the West are such that the image of Amitabha

Buddha is positioned in the middle, with that of Avalokitesvara

Bodhisattva on his left and that of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva

on his right—all of them instructors of cultivation and learning in

the Pureland sect.
