What does it mean by merit and virtue not ever going to waste?
Merit and virtue not ever going to waste, gong bu tang yuan in Chinese
transliteration, comes from Chapter on the Universal Gate. Tang yuan
denotes being squandered, and gong bu tang yuan, merit and virtue not
On expounding the meanings of names and appearances
being squandered but blessedness earned. In other words, virtuous
cause begets virtuous fruit and virtue begets like retribution.
