What duties do Buddhist monastics have for lay practitioners?

The duties of Buddhist monastics have for lay practitioners are primarily

moral. They enable lay practitioners to take refuge in the Three Jewels,

personify exemplary ethics, exhort all to do good and rid wrongdoings,

teach the Dharma, comfort the sick, encourage the failed, partake

rescue efforts, are always compassionate and gentle, and work hard

to help all in efforts to cultivate blessedness and wisdom.
